If you're able, attend the Thursday 'Clockers Corner' breakfast.

Or you could just hoof it, if you are in reasonable shape, it about a mile.

Weather prolly will be 90' so make sure you hydrate.

My former hotel was 2 blocks away, always hoofed it.

You definitely could. The walk from Arcadia station isn't bad at all, plus if you're into cigars as many horseplayers are, you walk right by a good joint to pop into for a quick pre- or post-race smoke.

The Derby was once owned by Hall of Fame Jockey George Woolf. They still have a lot of his memorabilia on the walls and in glass cases. Haven't been there in a few years but they always had a nice Steak. It's old school ...dark...small bar..But I enjoyed it. Less than 5 minutes from the track.

It's a bit of a walk from the Arcadia Gold Line station to Santa Anita -- it's not a long walk, but rather, a walk in the (potentially) hot sun.

Parking has been tricky for the Gold Line; for example, the garages in Irwindale and Azusa are often quite full. Perhaps you could Uber from your hotel to the Gold Line (or to Santa Anita if close enough).

I've never been to The Derby, but I heard it is good. I've been to Matt Denny's a long time ago.

Got out of the parking lot in 3 minutes after the Classic in 2014. Traffic is not a problem on Saturday.

I got out quickly in 2009 (after the very last race) but it took an hour in 2012.
