Belmont and KEE have many graded stakes races the same day. KEE has three grade 1's and two grade II's that day and Belmont has two grade 1's as well. Excellent weekend for racing

Yes and no if the KEE and BEL races cannibalize the fields at Pimlico (not knowing offhand if they're in similar categories).

Am I reading this correctly that the Dixie got a name change and reduced distance, and there’s no Sir Barton Stakes this year?

I wonder how many of these grade 1's will be going off at the same time.

For the most part the Preakness day races are of lesser grade than those at other tracks so they should be drawing from a different set of horses.

And usually, you get two or three horses that take advantage of this.

I like race cards with 3-5 quality stakes races, but for me there's a point at which I'm getting too much of a good thing. That's especially true when multiple tracks do it on the same day. I almost always wind up ignoring a few major stakes somewhere that I would normally pay a lot of attention to and probably bet. It would not shock me if there's a small negative impact to handle when big stakes days are run at multiple tracks on the same day compared to what they would be if they were scheduled on different days.

I can already tell you I probably won't even look at a few minor stakes at Pimlico and I'll probably wind up focusing on either KEE or BEL after I determine which has the better prospects for bets. I'll mostly ignore the other card.

it will be extremely time consuming to review all these races. I like big fields going 6F on the dirt so I will look at those hard unless the fields are small.
