Another Republican Crook Caught

Calif. Congressman Admits Taking Bribes

SAN DIEGO - Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham, an eight-term congressman and hotshot Vietnam War fighter jock, pleaded guilty to graft and tearfully resigned Monday, admitting he took $2.4 million in bribes from defense contractors to steer business their way

"The truth is I broke the law, concealed my conduct, and disgraced my office," the 63-year-old Republican said at a news conference. "I know that I will forfeit my freedom, my reputation, my worldly possessions, most importantly, the trust of my friends and family."

He could get up to 10 years in prison at sentencing Feb. 27 on federal charges of conspiracy to commit bribery and fraud, and tax evasion.
Investigators said Cunningham, a member of a House Appropriations subcommittee that controls defense dollars, secured contracts worth tens of millions of dollars for those who paid him off. Prosecutors did not identify the defense contractors.

Sec;

I see you have no (negative) comment on the story.
I equate politicians of both paties with fresh produce- keep then around long enough and they all stink up the place!

For those of us who don't consider Nancy Pelosi to be the brightest light bulb (by any stretch of the imagination) in Congress, then I'd say we're at least half way there.

The lying SOB, he made over 2 million by being a lying, thieving degenerate traitor and he stands to do three years tops in Club Med and get fined only 300,000 - hey! How do I get that deal? It works for me.

The man is a disgrace and he should be tried for treason and hung.

Burn in Hell, you POSMFAW!

Oh yeah, and the defense contractors must be indetified and thier assest siezed and turned over to the government for just like a common crack dealer.

Duke Cunningham was the first Air to Air Combat Ace of the Vietnam conflict.

He obviously went south and lost his judgement. But for a bunch of guys who wailed when Kerry and other so called Dem war hero's were smeared, you guys sure jumped on this one fast. Duke has obviously gone to the dark side when it comes to this bribery stuff. But he has a Navy Cross and is a bona fide war hero. no question, he will have to suffer the consequences of his actions, but he is standing up and taking it like a man. Damn shame.........I am sure Howard Dean and Air America will get tons of mileage out of this one.

You know Ralph, I was thinking the same thing myself. The guy is guilty and he should go to jail, no doubt about it, but the folks on the left who were so outraged and self righteous about personal attacks against liberal war heros have no problem making vicious personal attacks against Republican war heros. But, I don't think that surprises anyone.

He will get his day in court.

It is a shame that greed gets the better of so many people.

I think "Ethics" studies should be required throughout elementary and high school.

I'm not sure that's really fair, I don't see where the personal attack is here. This guy is admitting to being guilty of multiple felonies, calling him a crook is not an opinion, it's a fact.

Quite different than insinuating that Murtha was a coward.
