Super Bowl Stones
That was the ugliest performance I've seen by them. Jagger looked like an old squawking chicken. His voice sounded like he was talking out loud rather than singing. His dance movements were not dance, but spastic. He did not blend with his crater faced band. His energy was scattered. My eyes hurt. I hope he retires.

Pretty lame.
Quite an adventurous song selection as well.

I fell asleep right before the first song, but woke up for the last two. What was the first one?
I thought it was a pretty typical performance. The Stones have always been a gritty band.
Hey, at least they weren't lip-syncing.

Start Me Up was first.
Lip-syncing, no....drooling....Hmmmmm
Satifaction.
3 chords.
40 years of practice.
And THIS is what they play?!?! Yikes.
I've heard better garage bands.

You believe these guys were supposed to be the entertainment for Super Bowl in its 2nd year.............? They were passed over due to lyrics that the NFL didn't approve of.............

60's
This thread's comments are similar to what my dad said in the 1960's.
Beats some relative of someone who used to be famous.

They make a grown man cry!
They make a grown man cry!
Uh oh. The Stones are 39 years older than from Super Bowl II. But so are we! (Well, those of us at least 39 years old anyway.)

Scary when you think that many (most) on this forum do not know a world without a Super Bowl or the Stones.
And yet you an me were crackin' wise even back then - probably on notes in school, in, get this, a world without not only computers, but even Post It notes!
SPAM was a lunch, and the only thing we re-formatted was an Etch-A-Sketch.
And here is Mick - singing the same old song.

Well, I'd rather listen to lyrics from the glimmer twins that are older than the players on the field than what passes for music now a days.
Hope I die before I get old.
Am I there yet?

I prefer the Stones' music to Janet Jackson's. But I think I'd rather see her have a wardrobe malfunction than to see Mick jump strut around the stage with his bellybutton exposed.

The talent pool of which the Super Bowl people have to chose from is very small..They try to appeal to both the young and old....I think Santana played last yr with Michelle Branch, or was that the yr before? I would imagine most kids know Satisfaction and Start Me UP, because of the use of those songs in commercials. It is unforunate that the music or so-called music nowadays, that appeals to most of the younger generation, is horrible at best.....
Mick and Company didnt have it tonight, and possibly they have lost many steps since i saw them a couple of yrs ago......but who else should they have brought today?

Could anyone even hear Aaron Neville sing his half of the National Anthem? Nice voice, but very subtle and quiet, and the fans were noisy and screaming. Aretha, no problems hearing her. Aretha has the big strong voice for the task, but Neville would have been better off singing it at a small club than a 65,000+ seat stadium. (Not that the National Anthem or the Half-Time show would make or break my Super Bowl experience.)

Gee, Tom, thanks -- I think. That was a forgotten incident, Roseanne singing the national anthem and attempting to make it humorous. It happened here in San Diego.
Regarding Aaron, I thought it was a mic level screw up.
