Pletcher hit with multiple drug overages

https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-rac...ves-in-florida

Will he get the Baffert treatment from Churchill or NYRA? Highly doubt it
I think all the horses with overages also won.

Ari Gold tested positive after the Pulpit Stakes for omeprazole sulfide, a Class 5 ulcer medication in Florida; OK Boomer showed the presence of the Class 4 corticosteroid dexamethasone following a debut win in a one-mile turf maiden race; and Six Minus tested positive for two Class 4 non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in ketoprofen and phenylbutazone, the latter more commonly known as bute. More than one NSAID can result in a positive in Florida when above designated levels.
If the drug classification system is designed to indicate anything at all, these overages mean little to the performances of these horses. Like humans, medications, specifically NSAIDs, will metabolize at different rates and the better question to ask in this case would be the date/time at which the medications were administered.

If they mean little, why bother having the classification system and having limits. Sorry anti inflammatory medicines reduce pain and inflammation. You can't tell me that doesn't help a horses performance. He also had Forte with an overage and another horse at Parx. That's five in less than a year that we know about. He needs to be punished severely

the media sensationalism is worse than the overages.

if trainers go over with a raceday or similar med, and screw up, they get caught and there's a penalty. An argument can be made that they penalties are a joke, and that they don't punish the owners.
(It is NOT the case in Pletcher's overages, but although taboo to say, there are 'super owners' whose stats and enhanced performances (speed, performance figs, pace-defying finishes, and visual replay watching from skilled race-watchers) match those of the most potent supertrainers beyond whoever the name traienr is).

but in Pletcher's case (Whether or not some of his stock is clearly as potent as the dozen other guys capitalizing on the same broken system is irrelevant.) these are overages of testable drugs that are being caught and punished.

the average fan can't discern these things(and the industries stance passively encourages this kind of thing..., and so it becomes a 'rabble rousing' thing where Pletcher is the newest hot topic.

Pletcher hit with another drug violation from Saratoga meet. When is this guy going to get a stiff penalty. Nyra in a tough spot because Pletcher runs a lot of horses there.

I can't find the articles now but I did notice that some writers mentioned that HISA's new regulations have actually raised the amounts of some of the drugs that Pletcher used. In other words, they wouldn't even be posititves at all under the new rules. I think HISA has addressed the minuscule amounts of a drug that could trigger a positive test.

That's irrelevant. He broke the rules at the time. I doubt NYRA dishes out a stiff penalty to him. They need him too much. He runs a lot of horses there which helps field size, just like California protected Baffert.

Isn't it the NY gaming commission that doles out fines and suspensions?

Why yes PA, it is the NYSGC that issues fines and suspensions...they even have a handy database where you can search on Pletcher or any other trainer:
