Belmont: Sunday, June 4

Race One:

EVERY FOUR YEARS has been installed as the 7/5 M/L “fave” in this 5-panels, 90k, MSW. This Christophe Clement-trained colt has had a solid array of morning-works. This Constitution-bred sports an eye-catching equine pedigree. Both this colt’s sire, Constitution, and the dam, Accepting, have produced foals that do exceptionally well as first-time starters. On a personal note: I’m partial to first-timers that have outside starting posts, especially in sprints, as long as they mind their manners and don’t "run to daylight.” Further, the aforementioned conditioner, Monsieur Clement, does very well with 2-years-olds. In addition, this colt's broodmare, Accepting, was a solid racehorse in her own right. Her career on the track was short-lived (GP, Bel: six races), but she did win an MSW and was entered among stakes company. Carolina, Puerto Rico’s (home to the late-great Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder, Roberto Clemente), Manny Franco, is in the irons. Others: , , .

Race Two:

In this one-mile and a "teenth" 25K claiming-route, n3L, I've landed on a horse that I consider "a plodder," HANG TIGHT. As a preface to my remarks, I see value here. I believe this 4-year old bay is capable of "outrunning his odds." In this wide-open race, I believe this Union Rags-bred is worthy of consideration. "El Panameno," Jose Lezcano, has the call for trainer Jesus Romero. Senor Romero doesn't saddle many, but he's 50% in second starts with a trainer. It should be noted that that statistic is based on just two races, nonetheless... This Dixie Union-bred can certainly "get the distance" as he demonstrated back in early-January at Aqueduct. Race Three:

It is said that "water seeks its own level." It's true in physics as it is among race horses. In this case, in this 12.5k, 6-furlongs sprint, my case-in-point and thus, my choice, is THREE TWO ZONE. This Ray Handal-trainee has faced so much better. O Solo Meo! It's now or never! I mean going from the Grade I Forego at the end of The Spa meet to a 12.5k claimer...in less than one year. All signs point to this 5-year-old getting "off the schneid" and getting his picture taken. In simpler terms, this Street sense-bred should prevail. "DD," Dylan Davis, has his feet in the stirrups.
