Honor Code is due to run in the Rebel March 15th.
He will need to run decently to be favorite for the Derby.

Fill in the blanks:
If " Shared Belief" does a workout , he will be the favorite for the derby.
I was somewhat surprised that people were still throwing money at him last weekend during pool III.
A horse who hasn't put in a recorded a work ages took in enough action to make him the 5th or 6th pick in the pool.
Edited for Accuracy: At 15/1 he was actually the 5th pick in the pool.

If Honor Code stays healthy he will win the Derby with a shot at taking the Triple Crown; his biggest threats will be his stable mate, Top Billing and Strong Mandate with D. Wayne in charge. This horse is an awesome specimen to see and the best stride that I have seen since the late Ruffian.

If D Wayne Lukas does right by Strong Mandate he will be the favorite for the Derby.

The Florida Derby is looking really strong in comparison with some of the other 100 point fields that are lining up. If either Top Billing or Cairo Prince win, they will be the favorites for the Derby in my opinion. I still can't discount General A Rod who I think will benefit from the added distance. I don't like WildCat Red with the added distance, but he will be there to make sure there is an honest pace.
If you compare the Florida Derby path the others don't seem to have a great deal of 'headliners' other than NY right now. The Wood will be round three of Samraat vs. Uncle Sigh, and you can probably throw In Trouble again into that mix along with NOble Moon.
But the others don't seem to have much. Candy Boy is the only thing in the Cali circuit right now making noise. The Bluegrass offers some intrigue with a couple of Turf horses thinking about making the leap over. And the Arkansas and Louisiana still dont' have storylines attatched to them.
Of course we will see a number of these horses come up out of the wood work over the next few weeks with three more weeks of these 50 point preps.

I have a future bet on Mexikoma for the Derby. !st I hope he gets to run in the Derby....and then he's below the odds I bet him at. Will feel stupid either way if he doesn't make it in. After watching him run in the Breeders last year...I kind of got hooked on him. What the heck right?

I believe Honor Code is scheduled to run in the Rebel on 3/15 and if all goes well he will run back in the Arkansas Derby on 4/12 and if he wins and performs exceptional well in that outing he will probably be the Derby favorite.

If Tapiture beats Honor Code and Strong Mandate in the Arkansas prep races (Rebel and Arkansas Derby), he will be the favorite for the Derby.

i think the the contenders are so evenly matched now that who ever improves the most over the next six weeks will end up being a strong contender and maybe the favorite. I would add Bayern from the west coast and Anchor Down from florida to the usual suspects as they both have lots of room to improve. I would like to see Anchor Down in the Wood.
