Churchill Dress Code

It says if it doesn’t fit anywhere else put it here!

Headed to Louisville next weekend and wanted to see Churchill even without live racing. Their dress code is not clear cut to me in their website. Does anyone know what is ok and not for the Aristides Lounge? I’m likely to be in a polo with cargo shorts and tennis shoes unless warned ahead of time.

Thanks

I know on Derby Day the infield doesn't have a dress code.

One thing is for sure, you aren't doing the portelet dash in a suit and tie.

Be careful if you enter the surrounding neighborhoods. A little rough

The infield at a large Nascar event can rival the Derby Day craziness, yet Derby Day 1999 was the one and only time I saw people running across a row of porta potties while beer was thrown on them. I could not image wasting a $10 or so beer. As for suit and tie I saw a bride and groom fresh from the altar passed out in the mud. It was quite the mud puddle, the melting ice run off from a beer tent.

I was in residential neighborhoods within a mile or so from the track scouting for parking. To me they did not look bad that bad. I saw a lot worse just in Riverside Ca. I was wondering if they clean them up around derby time or was it the fact I have seen worse urban Blight than most people.

I have some friends who live nearby (just outside the hood, they call it) they say it has not improved

A long time ago now, but when we went to the Zenyatta/Blame BC at Churchill, we parked in the lot for the Louisville Cardinals stadium; it was a short walk to the track and back then did not seem sketchy.

Pre 9/11 it was a hell of a lot easier to bring your own into the infield. You could bring coolers of non-alcoholic beverages so false bottom coolers, flasks taped and rubber banded to your body, lawn chairs with ziploc baggies filled with liquour in the hollow legs, etc were the norm.
