New York Racing

Living in New York and betting horses for over 60 years I have to say that the racing here right now is horrible--most of the fields are small/the jockey colony is the worst that I have ever seen here/..I can't remember the last time I made a bet on racing here///I remember the old days when they took a winter break// IMO they should do that again//I can't wait for the big boys and the quality of racing to improve

Cutter,

It is a fact that the lesser stables depend on winter racing to exist. Yes, i know the fields are generally small, but that is the case at the majority of tracks these days. The track fills the races as best as they can and write races with the horses they have on the grounds.

I understand your frustration but this is the reality of the games economics.

your right about the short fields but i find NY racing is a lot better than fairgrounds racing where oaklawn racing more days and with churchill owning.
them has killed the racing there.

They have to race for financial reasons, but you don't have to play there.
There are many other options available - GP, TAM, SA, FG, OP.

There is no ru;e that says you owe any alligience to a track that offers an inferior product by your tandards, Expand your menu. There is no winter on the internet.

The problem with that Tom is all the other tracks are the same deal until the weekend . Right now , Gulfstream has the best , but spring is coming so on the weekends the major players migrate to the money . During the week all these cards stink IMO . The original post is absolutely correct . There were days I could bet Aqueduct and GP the same day , during the week , and take some pretty good shots . Now it’s a joke . And Belmont is correct . This is the economy of this game . They will keep these barns afloat, regardless of the betting product . There’s just too many tracks running for too few players which could be eased a bit with NY taking that winter break . They almost have to constrict to force people to move around . Winter racing is almost ridiculous until Saturday .

Between Prx, Tam, GP, FG, 2 or 3 from each track gives me a full card of races.
And I don't have to look at those claimers, nw2l, or better known as "will never win 2 races."

Tom I do play other tracks right now--Basically Oaklawn and Gulfstream-as far as I'm concerned those are the 2 that get my action now--

And it's cards like today's that make me thank God for Fan Duel.
OMG, what a crappy card. Time for 2 days a week?

Just horrible horse racing, is it really any wonder that shippers can win like today's 4th or trainers like Brittany Russell are having success?

Someone tell the "experts"

It's Aqueduct winter meet. We have this thread every February.

nice P5 carryover today in a 15% takeout wager. Certainly worth at least a once-over to see if you have a big mispriced opportunity.

The 4th race was a garbage result.

I've never had much luck with NYRA except Saratoga, so I don't bet Aqueduct or Belmont.

thought it was interesting to handicap, but what the hell is Dylan Davis (#6) doing here?

Pennington was hustling from the gate (#3) while Davis looked disgraceful with a passive non-effort.

I guess Davis and/or Handal felt that the was dominant gate speed, and to even hustle would be a wasted energy?

The old Broadway Shuffle......sight-seeing down the backstretch.
Did he by any chance have a hot dog in his hand?

there may not be much more racing from the Big A in general after 2023 at all

https://www.qchron.com/editions/quee...b30657680.html

personally I'd much rather have Tapeta racing in the winter, then what we have had this month, another exciting card today (not)
