The Eclipse Awards
The Eclipse Awards used to sort of make sense, in so far as US racing was a leading global jurisdiction
Now, they make no sense whatsoever
Cody's Wish was Horse of the Year in 2023 my ass
try Equinox #1, Golden Sixty #2
Either would have destroyed Cody's Wish, or the mediocre talent that is White Abarrio
I mean if you want to have a US horses of the year show, go for it, but this is now ridiculous
With the rise of Japan, the increasing relevance of Australia and Middle East racing, and Ireland for that matter, it's time to stop with the myopic Eclipse awards being domestically awarded
Horse of the year (and by category) needs to become global, like the World Horse Rankings try to do as above, and with a global award show with some production quality (nothing against the presenters, but c'mon, a Youtuber could have set up something better on their own)

What does all this awards crap do to beefit the average fan, customer?
We get to watch a bunch of rich people rattle their jewlery. And drop F bombs.
Cody was my choice and I could not care less about anyone else.

Technically, Belmont is located in Nassau County...which is a suburb on Long Island.
Belmont is not in any of the 5 boroughs of New York City.
It is in Elmont, NY...county of Nassau...Long Island

Why not take your marketing insights back to Chalk Talk and solve the jai-alai problem - clearly, the thoroughbred game seems to be a bit beyond your pay grade.

Its for the industry people. The owners, breeders, and trainers. I never got the sense that the fans cared much about who won.

In general there's the Oscars (and MAYBE the Grammys) and then there's "all other awards presentations". The Oscars have attained a real public significance such that at least some portion of the moviegoing public cares about them, will buy tickets to Oscar winning movies, etc. You can argue back and forth to what extent the Grammys has too.
All other awards presentations are essentially onanistic- an opportunity for insiders to dress up and congratulate themselves.

Remember back in the old days when there was an east coast - west coast rivalry?

Ah, yes,
And horses actually race a few times a years, riders actuallygunned for the lead early.
And the tracks hadn't sold out to the computer crews.
