Shenanigans at Mountaineer in Race 7 tonight

The Rail horse, Archie Tucker was 1-9 as they were loading the gate. The 4 horse, John's burger was 3-1. The gate opens and John's Burger crushes the field on the front end and pays 4 bucks to win. The rail horse, drifts from 1-9 to 4-5 after the bell.

I'm not suggesting there was betting after the race, i just think someone got a huge refund on the 1 horse in the win pool right at the end. That's pool manipulation at its finest and makes Mountaineer look bad.

Maybe Mark can have the mutuels manager investigate the money that came off the 1 horse at the end.

That was wild.

While Mark is at it....
Perhaps he can get the mutuels manager to show a $1 superfecta price.

$16,697 totalled in the super pool in the first race of Dec. 20th.
Yet the payout for $2 is shown as $25,038.40.

False reporting.

That’s exactly what it is and it should’ve been stopped years ago. Charles Town does it too, leading the uninitiated to think that there is sometimes as much as four times the amount that is actually in the pool (they have fifty-cent supers now). An extremely sleazy practice indeed.

Some individual tracks are now doing some good on that though. A horseplayer up here in Ontario prodded Woodbine and the gvt here to stop this practice, and Woodbine said yes they would. They no longer do it.

Some other tracks do it right as well, but (like HANA has mentioned on the blog), we tried to get some industry standard going on this and the cycling of probables, but were told it would not happen and we'd be wasting our time.

Thanks for the info. I’m glad to hear that at least some tracks are “telling the truth” now in these situations. I first noticed it a long time ago on a payout from Belmont that had a phantom 125K reported in it. 125K is a pretty big lie.

And of course if/when it’s announced, that just furthers the deception.

A seedy practice that’s been going on for way too many years.
