Maybe you are correct maybe it would have better if race was left out.
Then we would have "Two Realtors Arrested for Waiting for a Friend at Starbucks."
Can I can see it all now "Dunkin Doughnuts " new campaign "Realtors Welcome".
Peets Coffee " Realtors Welcome, Free Restrooms" show your license at the counter.
1,000,000 Realtors March on Washington. I bet things would straighten- up at Starbucks then.
I been in many Coffee Shops and the problem is there is a problem is people who buy the products sit there on their computers or talk all day. So it seems if someone's got it wrong.
Then again it's probably just me. Silly times for silly people.

What does their occupation or their race have to do with anything?
How about "Two idiots refuse to leave when asked to do so, after trying to use the bathroom without buying something first, then getting pissed off and staging a sit-in because they wrongly assume they're being treated unfairly because of their race."

Now you are just making things up.
By the way does Starbucks still allow AR 15's and side-arms in their stores if you buy a cup of coffee ? Bring a gun just don't meet a friend there.
Silly just plain silly.

Somebody is making something up.
And I'm pretty sure a Starbucks in Philly isn't going to be a hotbed of racism.
So yeah, somebody IS making something up, that's for sure.
And silly certainly applies. You got that part right.
But hey, anything goes when an agenda has to be furthered.

This store opened about eight to ten years ago, if memory serves. It's in a predominantly white section of the city, but it is frequented and operated by all ethnicities. Over the past few years, it has become a favorite hangout for some of the homeless. About five years ago, the store placed locks on the restrooms doors (you request the code from an employee and you can open the restroom door). By placing the locks on the doors, it gave employees more oversight of the restrooms. If you don't purchase something, you don't receive the code, or at least that's the stated rule.
Does the store ask people to leave who don't make a purchase? I've only observed this once. About three to four years ago, I witnessed a store employee ask a Penn student (I assume she attended Penn, but it could have been Temple/Drexel etc) to either purchase something or leave (the student was eating food not purchased at the store). This incident stuck with me, because I'd never seen it happen before, at least not at a Starbucks. The girl, who was Asian and college-aged, left the store without any trouble. If she had not left, would the manager have called the police on her? I don't know, maybe.
I see gray in the current case. The store has a right to eject non-paying loiters, but not based on race. It's impossible to know what was in the mind of the manager who called the police.
*I don't frequent this store anymore, given, like most Starbuck's now, it's typically dirty and understaffed.

We have students & other people in our small town who bring their laptops and stay for a long time. These people should have a time limit when its busy.

Are you sure it isn't "realtor-bias," Mike? After all, there are many folks who believe race played absolutely no role in this incident.
