This is correct. I know the workouts on my horses I own are wrong constantly (but not always), so I assume its the same at other venues

I stated before that I'm learning way more from this thread than I'm contributing, and it just keeps on.
I was strongly speaking out about the track and the potential problems in making it race ready due to all the rain this year.
But now that doesn't seem to be the problem, and probably isn't. With the revelations concerning this drug, bisphospherates, or whatever it is, we now have to accept that maybe the vets have finally fired the bullet from the gun that horse racing has been holding against it's own temple for decades now. The game of Russian Roulette that the vets and other caregivers have been playing on the backstretch has finally chambered the round, and it seems as if they actually fired.
Other jurisdictions than California are starting to deal with a spike in fatalities also, clearly showing that the breed has been dangerously compromised in the name of auction prices and inflated purses.
This is seriously bad news, and the industry needs to stand tall, and PUBLIC, and address this the only way that can possibly succeed, come right out, explain the situation, and get this drug out of the game. Any fool trainer or pin hooker that doesn't see that they're killing themselves with these vet practices must be heard, but not listened to. Heard, so that racing can keep an eye on them from here on out, as they shouldn't be trusted working with horses in any way.

it would be interesting to know how common this drug is and how much it's being used. But we never will know. I'd also like to know the cost.

Now all they need to do is start running 7 1/2 furlong turf races, as Gulfstream has done since Day One - and now that Santa Anita has shortened its turf course, increasing the distance of where the 7 1/2 furlong start would be from the gate to the clubhouse turn by 132 feet, there is no excuse whatsoever for them not entering the 21st Century and running 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf.

With no rain that turf wont take a lot of racing. Have we forgot it's Southern California and this years rain will soon be forgotten.

Fosamax has been around since 1995 (for human treatment) - simple Google searches show a good bit of controversy (in humans). Someone posted the substance is out of the blood stream in 12 hours? If that's true (urine, too?), I'd bet the "miracle" trainers have been using this for years, just cranking up human dosage.

Maybe they can time their 7 1/2f turf races like Gulfstream does too.
Actually they would need to replace two rails to add a 7 1/2 furlong turf race. It's probably not worth it to them.

Why is 7.5 furlongs so important?
Isn't 7 and 8 good enough?

Gulfstream's turf routes are generally not friendly to early speed horses, and for many years it has been one of the most difficult grass courses in the country on which to go wire-to-wire in two-turn races ranging from 7 1/2 furlongs and up.Mar 7, 2019
The track originally had a one-mile dirt oval and a 7 furlong turf oval prior to the 2005 renovation.
From the internet??
