Irad wins 6. Half the Card. Gulsftream 2.18.19
Today was 85, sunny, and 11 stakes with some good horses. Today ranked. I had fun, hit winners, saw friends, and bet the whole card.
Irad Ortiz had 6 winners. He did not win a race through 4, then went lights out.
r5 for Rohan Crichton $3.80
r6 for Navaro $4.80
r8 for Saffie $4.40
r10 for Navaro $6.20
r11 for Marcus Vitali $6.20
r12 for Mark Casse $5.80
This is his 6th win, the 12th race. 45 seconds.

S. FLA in mid-Feb. I kind of like the look of it.
It didn't take IOrtiz long to figure out this jockey thing. How long has he been riding? I don't pay a lot of attention to anything east of the continental divide, but he seems to have come around really quick.

With all due respect to Irad, all those results mean is that his agent got him on a lot of short priced horses, and he didn't screw it up.

Definitely, 1st thought, Agent knows the stock extremely well. These were mostly 16-30K claimers running for 60K cheap stakes. I got the impression it was spreading some of the Pegasus cash to the rank and file.

In a sense this is true, but that itself is a product of skill.
Shoemaker rode at 30 percent for several years, and yes, he was on all sorts of chalk. But Harry Silbert got him on all that chalk because he was such a great rider.

I remember when Bailey won seven races at Gulfstream on Florida Derby day. Would have been eight had Thunder Gulch not nosed out Suave Prospect.
Velazquez winning six at Saratoga, capped off with a great ride to win the Diana on Starine.
I think Dominguez won six races twice at Saratoga.
Chavez won six at Aqueduct.

Tyler Gaffalione won seven on one card at Gulfstream in 2017.
Eddie Castro once won nine in one card at then-Calder.

Every rider who rode against Castro should have retired immediately.

Race Track junkie out of Suffolk Downs. Maybe a little bit in my narcissistic mind , I think that makes me race-track royalty? Therefore I see other tracks as extensions of my kingdom.
More serious, I enjoy roaming around the horses in the paddock and winners circle. Most of my pictures are from those spots.
Security is frequently telling me to back-up, move along, step-aside, watch out, you can't stand there, you can't sit there....so on , so on.
