Arthur Lentz-WWII hero-RIP
Art Lentz was a gentleman and friend of mine from the York OTW. He was awarded 2 Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart in World War II. He was the spryest 92 year old I've ever met. I'm a pretty big guy, but at 92, he still stood taller than me, and was a former Pro basketball player after the war. And he loved to play the horses, mostly using jockeys for his combinations. And his memory was very sharp in that regard. His son who's my age, is a talented musician and was my son's sax teacher years ago in Art's house. Like my father-in-law, Art went to war and came back and finished high school after the war. I will miss seeing him and asking how's he's doing with the ponies. RIP.

Nice tribute to your freind.Almost all of the RIP threads deal with well known people but it's good to read about the kind of individuals like Arthur Lentz that helped make this country what it is.Looked up how many WW 2 vets are still with us and the Veterans Dept estimated the number, as of this past September,as just under 500,000.

Great tribute to a fine man I am sure.
What a great generation of both men and women.
I'm sure you would say that you are a better man for knowing him. Your heartfelt story sums that up.
I sure was for those that served in that war that I knew growing up.
