Think there is something to hyper specializing...without it, racing becomes a type of Rubrics Cube that one does not know how to solve...going about it willy nilly come what may form in hand 15 minutes of capping prior to the race IS NOT the way to proceed...it requires a whole shift in mentality.
One must train ones self...hard to accept but...the horses train...we must also.
It is a massive step to go from a vertical wagerer to a horizontal one alone...requires forethought, planning, money management. This alone is difficult. It is EASIER to bet race by race vertically but less.....
The more categories broken out the better...you begin to know the horses and their peculiar capabilities versus their peers in their distinct categories....
