First place to spend that infrastructure money would be D.C. after the M1A1s get done chewing up the roads.

If that was his motivation rather than self-aggrandizement, if the Pentagon was for it, and if Congress was for it, sure. Three strikes and you're out.

Are you assuming this is a well-thought out political strategy, and not just a spur of the moment brain fart he had one morning while watching Fox and Friends?

Has nothing to do with pride or patriotism. America has just never seemed to need them to embody those things.

I'd rather just have a huge memorial day parade commemorating the sacrifices that the armed forces have suffered in wars.
Those are the people we owe everything to.

I disagree, he's the same as every other president. 4 year term, running for reelection and serving another 4 (if reelected).

Who the Hell cares what COngress likes?
Likewise the Pentagon.
The SOLDIERS, now, that is all that matters.
And as to leastie's comment about all his toys....those are OUR toys. Bought and paid for by our taxes - the taxes of those who WORK and CONTRIBUTE to the nations, unlike the 47% anchors, who hold us back.
I would love to see our technology on display.
Lord know we are forced to watch every perversion known to man
on parade all the time. Time for a parade that means something.
He, if leastie and horsey don't like it, this is a free country in spite of the democrats - let the stand up and protest!
PLEASE, let them, PLEASE!!

Why would an American be intimidated???
I think it would be an eye-opener for the rest of the 3rd and 4th rate world to see. I'd have a float with a freaking live NUKE on it and a sign reading, "AVAILABLE NOW!"

Kind of like the theocracy that was coming that I read on this board when GWB was prez?
You know, the kind of hyperbole both sides like to spew at the opposition that never, ever happens?

I did some research on that, since I've heard you make that claim before..
But it was just one person who was doing it. An example of one of his posts, from 2005:

They are just getting their legs and will be a force to keep an eye on as time progress's. The fundamentalists have been going at it for 8 years or more and are close to creating the theocracy they desire in Washington. Plus they have weekly meetings with their constituents to enforce their teachings. You can lol all you want but Moveon is not going away.
|
So as you can see, he was blaming fundamentalists in the party for the coming theocracy, not Bush directly. His concerns had started well before Bush.
Meanwhile, there have been many alt-righties here who have mentioned Obama instituting martial law, sharia law, Jude Law, you name it
