For the sake of accuracy...

...I am compelled to respond to posts questioning the pre and post race testing policies and practices at Tioga & Vernon Downs. Yes, the NYSR&WB assures us that testing protocol is in place. It is not "anything goes" or "wide open unrestrained horse doping" at either track.

Are there issues? Sure.
Are we aware of these issues? Yes.
Are we turning a blind eye? No.
Are we frustrated by the dramatic improvements in form that occur far too frequently? Of course.
Is the testing currently being performed an effective deterrent? It does not appear so.
Do we discuss what we can do to address these issues? Constantly.
Do we have a solution to these issues? Clearly, we do not at this time.
Will we continue to work toward a solution? We must.

Anything else?

Nick

Whew Nick, thx for nipping that in the bud.....Just rumors then....Still, I have learned that, even tho a rumor may be false, there is "always" something to it, tho it may not be what was supposed..but something....

2 points-

I do not follow the carts, but I notice 2 things- At Tioga, there is a definite on-paper bias in favor of paths 4 and 5. Also, the extreme high ITM% of driver and wins by some trainers and drivers, especially coming in a winning very few but very high purse races, can be speculated to be a problem in the areas of claiming comditions, or certain drivers and/or trainers getting the best chance at getting horses. At both tracks your favorites are winning about 45%, too high. If same -day shippers are winning too much could be a screening problem.

thanks to Nick and Jason for breaking that rumor asunder.

For those that do not know, their is a New York state statutue that reads as follows:

4120.8. Drug detection programs.

Programs for the detection of the presence of drugs in horses programmed to race shall be conducted at each track unless otherwise ordered by the board.

I made the last part in bold type. It is permissible under NY state law to suspend the detection by order of the NY Wagering Board. Any rumor that involves a suspension of the testing must be checked out and put to rest at first asking. I did not make the law but knew about it when the rumor arose and I tried my best to seek the truth. Thanks to Nick and Jason, we have it.
