Yeah, there are plenty of factors, including hand size. I was just pointing out that a smaller ball is an advantage when putting it through the same sized hoop.

cj, I am curious if you agree with this and are willing to defend CurtisontheBay?

I think the players will listen if for no other reason than Pop hired her. Maybe in a different situation it wouldn't work, but he commands so much respect I don't think she'll have any problems. In the end it will come down to whether what she is teaching works, not whether she is a man or woman.

I'll also add that the type of players the Spurs tend to get aren't guys with bad attitudes who might feel threatened that a woman is telling them "how to play basketball"
I agree with CJ that this woman has an endorsement from Pop, he's essentially the Belichick of the NBA, and i think that if Pop is hiring her, the endorsement is there and if you diss her, you're essentially dissing Pop and players aren't going to go there.

I will repeat that this is not about ability, it is situational. Will the playerss adapt. Will the players be comfortable ? All of you experts who think you know Pop and his staff and players are in a dream world.
Let the situation play out and we will see what happens !

I've followed the Spurs since I was old enough to watch basketball. It isn't hard to get to know players and see their character. Have you ever been in San Antonio? It isn't like LA or NY; it's a smaller market. You will see players in town sometimes. They are just people like everybody else and they respect their fans. If you haven't seen it in person; you wouldn't understand. How many other teams celebrate a championship at Luby's with their fans instead of going to a nightclub somewhere?! It is different in San Antonio...believe it or not....but it's true. This team carefully picks and chooses players not only on ability but also on character and coachability. It results in excellence on the court. Becky has already been working with players in practice this year and if you didn't notice....the Spurs won another championship.

I never knew it until playing one time in my Air Force days and somehow we wound up with the smaller ball by accident. I looked down at it because it didn't feel right and saw it was a woman's ball.

Even men's NCAA balls are slightly smaller than NBA balls, I believe (but not as small as the woman's ball).
