Trying to fix problems that don't exist, for critics of the sport for whom everything will never be enough.

And what does this say about the "everyday" race? A lot...

Good point, PA.
"Come on out on Derby Day - lots of hats and we won't screw you for one day!"

If we could only bottle the great minds of those who run this game......it would be a very small bottle. Very small.

What they are doing is telling the world that the game is crooked, but they will take care of it for the big race. Wink wink.

Its the root problem of this game.....they run on the "fumes" of the big days....because its to the point where thats the only time anyone cares..when will they focus on the "everyday" race and most importantly the thousands of just about "everyday" players? Almost every industry caters to their "everyday" customers...not racing and its not just the drugs, thats just one part of this. The customer service sucks ass on most days. Just clean it up everyday and you won't have these spectacles in the NY Times where they bend over backwards on the "big" days to make it look "legit". The best is what you hear Dale Romans say every year at this time, "They make all the trainers look like crooks." Then he goes on to say how proud he is to be a trainer..........Whats this make the everyday player look like...."It makes us look like chumps and suckers for playing. Thanks horse racing industry glad that you care about us and our money so much, that you clamp down for 5 days a year.....we must be "valued" customers or just "dumb horseplayers"....... "

Then the "great job" they do reporting....when was Rudy an assistant? i thought he was a rider, he rode for other barns besides Dutrow........the difference between a medication "overage" and a performance enhancer is never distingished in these types of articles either. The cooperation for the east coast mid-atlantic tracks is a good start and everyday video on the west coast. Thats what you do to clean things up, but please don't "cow tow" to boobs like these in the NYT and other media circuits that have no clue just because you have a big race coming up. This is what it causes....it makes the trainers and vets look like crooks and your best customers look like idiots....is that the image you want to project on the biggest days to entice new customers and fans?????? Horse racing should write a "business book"......"How To Shoot Your Own Feet and Bring a Business Down".......because it never ends. Maybe if you did your jobs the other 360 days or so a year...we would not have to go through this..instead you sit there and give the impression that other than the 3 triple crown races and the breeders cup....horse racing is a drug "free for all"........great PR work there, that will do wonders for this game....lol
