After this meet, I can see why the racing secretary needs to go. This has been the worst Belmont meet I can ever remember, I play River Downs before Belmont. Hopefully, they are saving the horses for The Spa!

I'm not sure how you can blame the racing secretary too much in this case....he can only do so much. How's he supposed to paint a masterpiece when all he has to work with are Crayola's?
There's a reason there is a horse shortage at NYRA...and it doesn't have much to do with who is the racing secretary....but I guess it's akin to firing the manager of a major league baseball team, when the fact is, all the players suck...

After 1 meet? That seems too easy to make the racing secretary the scapegoat. And wasn't this the first meet with that detention barn or whatever they call it? This shakeup makes things seem very weird over in NYRA land.

It's pretty clear that you don't have any grandkids!

The reasons have all been suggested on this forum in one way or another....no need to rehash again....
I don't remember any of those reasons being directly attributable to the racing secretary in any way...but maybe I'm wrong...

Remember this song
My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard
And they're like, it's better than yours
Damn right it's better than yours
I could teach you but I have to charge
Certainly, a different meaning here - milkshake that is. My milkshake is better than yours.

I had to delete my last post, because the NYRA steward, Dave Hicks, is retiring. My apologies...

thats gonna leave a mark
Lakow was escorted off the Belmont Park grounds on Thursday morning, a standard NYRA practice when an employee is terminated. P.J. Campo will replace Lakow after serving as his assistant

Pure speculation. I apologize in advance. I DONT PLAY NYRA SO I DONT KEEP UP WITH IT.
However, with that said, when you fire the steward, Racing sec, and chief vet on the same day then I think MOST will agree that there is a lot MORE is going on than meets the eye.
Perhaps, its got something to do with all the new testing for milkshakes and so forth. Maybe the chief vet has his own concoction - he and Joey, tony, alfonso. Maybe the steward just doesn't C the race right sometimes. Too many or few DQs.
Of course this a wild conspiracy theory but .. .wilder things have happend in NY racing.

I dumped New York in favor of Louisiana Downs. I'll play it again when Saratoga starts but no thanks on Belmont.
