CRC POSTPONES SUMMIT OF SPEED

Due to power and telephone outages by Hurricane Dennis related storms in the area, CRC is postponing its Summit of Speet card to Sunday 7/10

The Summit of Speed is CRC $1.9 million day of sprint stakes, featuring 8 stakes and the country's top sprint specialists, including Lost in the Fog, Madcap Escapade and others. It's too good a card to try and run under these conditions said Ken Dunn, Pres. of CRC.

Would you believe, it's 12:30 and the sun is shinning, go figure. Still a 10-15 MPH wind, should help dry the track for tomorrow, probably wiill be off the turf though, there was some heavy rain.

215pm sat afternoon and the sun is shining,OPPS!!
I can understand wanting to protect the stake horses, IF this was a normal card Calder would have run. I also dont understand why they wouldnt take entrees for tues, SAID they will card a few of tuesdays races on fri..I as a owner and trainer feel cheated as I have spent many dollars getting my horse ready for a race on tues,NOW I have to hope BU uses that race on fri.In a place like Calder you have to be somebody to be heard, A little guy like me and they wont even talk to you, Another thing, Its funny how they call me on my cell when they are looking for a entree to fill a race, BUT what is even funnier they cant call you when you get shafted at the draw and need a rider,I do my best to have my horses ready for their races, Calder could do more to help the little guy instead of catering to who they want to.

Sounds like a responsible decision to blow off Tuesday early - befreo the people who pay the bills - the FANS - make plans, buy forms, etc. Sounds like they are looking out for the right group. IMHYOCO.

The "overnights" have been posted for Tuesday ( 9 races ), have been for awhile, I just don't understand your problem.

Track Maintenance for Summit of Speed

7/10/05 10:30AM

What is condition of the main track ?
The main track is good

What did you do to the the main track this morning ?
We had 5 inches of rain over the past 2 days, We used the floats all night last night to ret ready for today and will use them throughout the day today on the main track. We will roll the turf course this morning. ALL RACES ARE OFF THE TURF EXCEPT THE STAKES RACE ( Calder Turf Speed Handicap )

What is the condition of the turf course ?
The turf course is yielding.

What is the temporary rail set on the turf course today ?
No rail, on the hedge

Karl,
I haven't talked to Tom Schell so I don't know exactly what he's talking about, but I believe the problem revolves around the races that were scratched today. No races were lost from yesterday, they were only moved to today, and all the races today were lost. Presumably, some of today's races may bump races from Tuesday, which will then bump some of Friday's races? It seems a better solution would be just to run on Wed this week to make up for the lost races of today?

ps. and note Tom's post...
"Sounds like a responsible decision to blow off Tuesday early - befreo the people who pay the bills - the FANS - make plans, buy forms, etc. Sounds like they are looking out for the right group. IMHYOCO."

...the only thing obvious is that you are delusional. There was never any question about blowing off Tuesday's program. And Suff chooses this obviously INcorrect opinion to emulate...how fitting! Maybe you two can be roommates at Shady Acres Delusional Manor?

Karl,
Well, here's our answer, from TC site...

"* The entire 13-race Summit of Speed card will be run on Sunday, while Sunday's original 11-race card will be run on Monday. Likewise, the Monday card will be run on Tuesday. Therefore, no entries were taken today. "

...so hopefully the races scheduled for Tuesday will be run on Friday. Too bad they just can't add a day of racing on Wed.

Would it even be possible to just add a day? Wouldn't it be necessary to get state approval or something?
