Ben's Cat Returns A Winner

I thought perhaps Father Time had caught up with the old pro but he looked like his old self this afternoon winning again at Laurel.

Yes good to see, I'm following this horse for a long time already.

Great camera work on this race. The guy just zooms up as close as possible so you can't even see what's going on or Ben's Cat coming on the outside. I don't bet Laurel so maybe this is typical.

Ben's Cat kinda smirked when he was told "father time is undefeated".

Ben's Cat has been retired...it was time.

Been a pleasure watching a bona fide racehorse compete for so long.

I put him right up there with the best of them.
He had heart and oozed class.

Tanks, Ben!

Reminded me a bit of Fourstardave, just a cut below but still a warrior.

Thought I'd bump this with an update; Ben's Cat had colic surgery on July 6. Here's to a successful recovery.

Broke my heart to hear this news. It's horses like Ben's Cat that made me love this game so much...a true warrior and a BONA FIDE race horse if I ever saw one.
Won 32 of 63 lifetime starts.
Makes me wonder how far back we have to go to find the cumulative lifetime starts of recent Kentucky Derby winners to equal this guys' 63.

saw him for the last time this past May at Pimlico in the McKay Sprint (a race he's won 5 times). He won the Mister Diz Stks six times...you just don't see that anymore.

Terribly sad news. Had the good fortune to meet him in the Laurel barn back in the day - he carried himself like a champion. Hard to describe, but it was regal. May he rest in peace.

"We have some news...some news that isn't much fun. The 11-year old Ben's Cat has been euthanized, due to complications from colic surgery. So long Ben's Cat." -- Brad Free on TVG...about 2 minutes ago.

I may never make another negative comment about Todd Schrupp ever again.

I think it's safe to assume you'd have to go all the way back to Exterminator.

Sad to hear this.
