Clark Handicap
What's everybody's thoughts on this year's race?
Does Soul run away with this one? How about Bravazo off the long layoff? Seems to be plenty of speed.
I'm intrigued by Pioneer Spirit. First race off the biggest came in Churchill history (150k). Might get a piece at long odds.
What's everyones plan of attack?

Tom's D'Etat is legit favorite. They still have to show up, run around a circle, and not get into a pace meltdown, but I have no reason to 'guess' against him.
Owendale is a decent price for exotics.
Snapper Sinclair is a good price to pass some tired rivals underneath.
Major Cabbie is a wildcard. He has not proven to me that he wants a competitive pace vs this field, but if they let him control a soft pace and play the first turn, he will win.

exacta box and I'd tentatively make the 3 my top pick.
I think he can rebound from the last and he should get a fast track (and hopefully not lose as much ground). Tom is a legit fav but I think it's worth taking a bit of a stand at ~ 8/5. Mr Buff I like since he may be able to outfoot the other early speed and he's got a respectable record at this distance.
good luck

I'm going with the Mocito Rojo. I'm not sure how I'll get until I see the odds. Definitely a win bet after that depends on the odds.

Owendale is my horse for the Clark. He's a big strong 3 year old who should get plenty of pace to chase. I like him shortening back up to 1 1/8. He was working like a freak over the Churchill Downs strip pre Classic. and I'm willing to toss that race.

Count me in the OWENDALE supporters. The distance and class are no mystery to him.
With the scratch of PIONEER SPIRIT...I'll go with an exacta of OWENDALE over TOM'S DE' ETAT & SEEKING THE SOUL.

Good Luck,

This race has plenty of speed, but it's not clear to me that some of the major horses can't just sit off a few lengths and still be OK. It's not like Tom's d'Etat or even Draft Pick if he can run back to his Pacific Classic is a need the lead horse.
Aside from Owendale as an obvious big closer, Seeking the Soul might be a little interesting. His best races fit perfectly here. His last few weren't as good, but they were all in CA. I don't usually put a lot of weight on horses for courses, but it looked to me like quite a few horses didn't handle those CA tracks. Maybe he can jump back up.
Nothing really hits me here.

Owendale and Seeking the Soul are both going backwards in their form cycle
