The early rumors were that an American wife would never be accepted as a member of the royals............and Harry would be ostracized, for some bland reason.
I don't even think they are giving a reason for this...........

I suspect the wives got the brothers fighting. I am not sure what they cut, besides official duties. They are still living in palace and get security. I guess not having the 'allowance' that comes from UK taxes might amount to a good chunk.

They have their own home (admittedly a nice one) they don't live in a palace. UK taxes as such don't contribute that much, it is mainly for security etc. Money for their private use mainly comes from their own wealth. Both are wealthy, him from money he was left from his mother, her from her acting career. Contrary to popular belief a lot of the Royal family have jobs. Also, all members of the Royal family pay tax's on their private income.
Ever since Markle came on the scene a lot of people have been on the warpath for her saying she should go back to where she came from. Mainly based on racism because she was American and not white and how dare someone like her marry into the Royal family. Now she's doing just that and taking her family with her they are having a pop at her for that. Good luck to them I say.

Frogmore cottage may not be a palace, but it is also not a 2 bedroom apartment. I read somewhere they need $3 million per year to lead the lifestyle they are accustomed too.
