Zenyatta's foal passes

Really tough sport sometimes, so sad to hear.

I had read that mother and foal were sent to a clinic for precautionary reasons and read mixed views about the prognosis for the baby, but I assumed all was well when they said he was walking and doing fine. This is a terrible loss, especially coming after the accident that cost Z Princess her life. Condolences to all involved.

Having trouble expressing my thoughts here. You know he was under the best of care. Unfortunately, we'll never know how good he could have been.

This is crushing.

So much joy can turn into so much sorrow in a heartbeat.

Terrible! And we already had a name to propose, "Zen Warrior". My better half is not going to take this one well, she was sure this one was "the" one for Zenyatta.

That is just awful. 2 of the best female race horses in our generation have had very tough breaks in their brief mare careers. Sad news.

It is. Rest in peace, little one.

She's not mine, but at this point, with the loss of two, I know, beyond a doubt, I would be asking...how much more heartbreak can my dear champion mare bear? And too, how much more of this agonizing pain can I bear with her.

Very sad to hear...I've spent the last week with two separate foals in the oxygen chamber trying to keep them alive. One is doing better and is nursing. The other is finding it difficult to maintain his balance and nurse. It's a tough period to go through..condolences to Team Zenyatta...

This is very sad news...He was a looker. I agree with Grits, Zenyatta is most likely heartbroken, along with all connected to her.

R.I.P. Little One.
