Wire to wire speed, can it be dispensed with ?

First of all I 'm back after a rather long absence.
The wire to wire speed is the basic parameter upon which we base our horse racing predictions. There are all sorts of collaterals that play an important role but wire to wire speed is the most important.
There is however this tendency in many race tracks of the world:
Make the race distance an unknown factor by moving the starting stalls around !
The race tracks of the world also don't like people who often predict horse races correctly.

Consider the distance one mile.
That's 1608 meters in metric and the wire to wire time averages to some 1.42.00, or 102 secs.
Take away 18 meters and make it 1590 meters. This means the one who ran in 1.42.00, runs in 1.41.10 now, the start to finish time is lowered by about 0.90 seconds.
If you ignore this, it's too bad. 0.90 secs is the difference between a Kentucky derby winner and the one who finished fourth in the same race.

But when we don't know the exact distances, we are blindfolded.
Given that the race tracks don't even listen to us complaining and say "get lost" and that they also mumble some lame excuses, such as mud poodles or the topography of the track or the position of the tv cameras, what do we do ?
Is it possible to find something else ?

Maybe if you wrote your post in Greek, I could understand it better...and supply some sort of answer.

It's a pity we did not listen to professor Liantinis and adopt the Latin alphabet - which is really a Greek alphabet too - not invented in Italy.
That way everyone would speak Greek and not English.

Also we might excuse the foreigners for saying funny things in Greek like:

dos mo-i pa sto ka-i tan gan ka-i-nato

and

andra mo-i enepe mo-i-sa polytropon os mala ...

It's all our fault.
No wonder America speaks English and Greek lost by one vote to become the official language of the constitution.

Anyway it appears you don't follow international racing or you would have known that in England they move the stalls all the time.
The steward says I don't like it here because it's windy or there is a mud poodle and they take them 30 meters down the stratch.
That way nobody knows what the exact ditance of the race was.
If intead of 1600 meters (=1 mile) they make it 1570 meters the difference is 1.5 second, so when you try to work out a future race from the past races you are in the doledrums and the British don't even use the method.

So given this annoying trend exists is there something that can be done ?

Why not put more emphasis on the latter part of the race and focus on middle and final fractions. Use the early part of the race to look for running style as well as early moves. However, that may be difficult because the overseas PP's are terrible, they give you ZERO info to really dissect a race.

Kind of difficult to grasp.
Suppose it's 100 meters mens srpint. How do we figure it out if they make 96-96- ... 103-104-105 as they like and say 100 in the cards ?

I've seen horses go wire to wire at 5 furlongs and at a mile and a half, so don't see what disance has anything to do with it.
Old Doc Sartin said the matchup of horses in the rave is what counts, not the false premise of early or late.

While this is true, the shorter the race, the better frontrunners do over any decent sample size.

......................

I read this somewhere but I can't remember where:

stalkers win the highest %

followed by frontrunners

and closers win the least by a large margin

if somebody knows the correct % that would be great to find out
