Santa Anita Musings

Absolutely horrible chalk ridden Sunday card yesterday.

Falcone continues to do extremely well.

Miller and Baltas stay on a roll. They are tough anytime.

Bu-bu-but...Ritvo and the big, splashy difference all the "changes" were going to make?

Sport continues to sink, just a matter of time. It can't continue this way and it won't.

Can you do me a solid and give me a drive-by before you leave for a few weeks again?

Santa Anita has been anything but "chalky" this meet, regardless of Sunday's results.

We'll see how it is going forward, but one day certainly isn't inspiring me to change my approach there.

For a while English courts in the Middle Ages would order the execution of a cow who trespassed from one person's land to another. There's your driveby.

field sizes have been noticeably larger...early pick five continues to have great value especially with the low takeout...not sure there was the need for the addition of the late pick five but late pick four pool sizes are still large...lots of 6.5 races down the hill where speed rules

one thing I have noticed is that the lower level claiming races and especially lower level maiden claiming races are especially chalky...very rare to see a horse over 10-1 jump up and win whereas it happens fairly regularly at Gulfstream Park...I guess the cheap horses at SA are VERY cheap without the speed

Handle up significantly on 11 more races this year.

I like SA, probably my favorite track. Hardly ever an off track, was just mentioning Sunday because as a weekend warrior I only have 2 days to play.

50 horses in 8 races yesterday. So much for the larger field sizes.
