I'm still amazed at the number of people (including a few Red Sox fans who should know better) who think that error by Buckner happened in Game 7.It was in Game 6 and in fact Boston had a 3-0 lead in the 6th inning of the final game but blew that lead also.
The disease he died of, Lewey's dementia, was also diagnosed in Robin Williams when he committed suicide.

Sad stuff. I was watching that game at old Garden State Park. Remember it like it was yesterday. Buckner takes way too much blame for that World Series loss.

Championships heal. Buckner was standing O'd in Boston at least once that I saw.

For god's sake, the Red Sox had two leads in Game 6 that the Mets overcame, if memory serves. More importantly, there was also a Game 7 that the Sauux lost.
The goats of the Series should have been Calvin Schiraldi and Bob Stanley.
RIP Bill Buckner, a great player who have more basehits in his career than 76 Hall of a Fame players.

Great ball player.
As others have said on here, the Mets WS win was due to much more than his error.
It was fun to see him a few years back on Larry David's show.

The Chicago Cubs , one of the better teams in baseball struck out 17 times on Sunday. Billy Buck struck out 17 times in the entire 1978 season and had years with less than that.

Great ball player. Unfortunately the error will be what he's best reminded by.
Rest in Peace, tough guy.

2700 hits, a batting title, and never struck out 3 times in one game. Today's players could learn a lot from hit approach.
