Scares the hell out of me.

My 8 page spreadsheet and number crunching had him 4th behind , and for some crazy reason I don't like him.

I just can't get beyond his :39.13 final 3Fs in the Wood just like I couldn't get beyond Animal Kingdom's final 3rd in the Spiral.

I'm on a roll of tossing the wrong horses.

Returns for further review . . .

The Tax man returneth for the Test of the Champion . . . interesting Dosage Profile and pedigree calls out for further review.

I played this horse last out and he was ice cold on the board-knew I had the wrong horse. I bet my superfecta on the Derby on friday, so it was too late to change my bet

This Gargan talking about the stretch run.
I like him pointing out that the Gotham shouldn't be a KY derby points race because it is a sprint-I have to agree

I know his works have been underwhelming, but tied for second to last choice on the ML for the Belmont? Geez.

Clearly he can outrun those odds, but still eight others to beat for the win.

I liked him almost as much as Tacitus in the Derby, even more on value, and here we are again.

I played Country House in the derby and he was ice cold. I still thought I had the right horse. Even if they had left Max up, I would have made $$.

Do you really base your wagers totally on what other people think? I don't mind doing that in every day races, or even regular stakes races, esp. when I have PPs for horses running at around same distance as they already have run.......but for races where horses are doing something they've never done for the first time, I don't look at odds.

That looks like a nice exacta box for the Belmont in many respects, actually. I mean, it's not the worst you could do.

At one point, Tax was one of the fastest horses at 2 and 3, and those were in his losses. 100% ITM before the derby.
He was a good bet there. He didn't like the mud. There was no way to know just how much he disliked it though. Nobody should feel bad for having included him on their ticket in the derby. I didn't use him but it was for other reasons at the time.

Is his trainer usually this "coy"? I probably won't use him, because I really can't get a bead on him and the trainer-speak doesn't inspires confidence, unless he's trying to throw everybody off.
Horse is running iwth those new plastic shoes. they're supposed to be lighter. I don't know if that is good or not. Again, I can't wager in the dark.

What he tried to do today just wasn’t a winning move on that track

No it wasn't a good move for that track, I agree, and the same could be said about Tax's Derby.

You had to be thinking 'Quarterhorse from that gate and sit forward, and hope for the best'... yet he never got out of the gate in the Derby.

Reasonable to use him in the Derby and the Belmont as a bettor.

Heck, if he comes back at 9f + vs a G3 or so field at a good price, very reasonable to use him again. (not the most likely scenario, especially the big price part)

We can quibble about less than ideal trips and the fact that we can watch the video replays and we don't see the jockey in the Derby pumping the heck out of the horse the instant the gate opens... And we have a nice argument.

But, hat's off to team Gargan. Be it info, or good eyes, they claimed a solid horse, and they stretched him right out to that 9f group of NY prep races that aren't always full of a bunch of horses who can run a solid 9f+, and he overachieved. It was a sharp claim. Nice training job. Have to tip the cap.

Since when is a 1m16 race a sprint? Because it's around one turn?
Races run at 9f at Bel are also around one turn...are those sprints too?

The Gotham is a mile race, not 1 1/16 miles.
