Can somebody tell me how #3 Ciao Luna is eligible for this race? The horse doesn't qualify for the conditions of the race as far as I can tell.

Maiden races are not considered. From the program conditions.

Thank you. Hadn't seen anywhere that, aside from 3yos, it was anything but a straight N3L.

On previous days overnight this CX race did not have the maiden clause. Nor the day of overnight. It appears that this was added late so the race would go. I'm sure you know this but you can download the days program at the SA website.

This race interests me from an analytical viewpoint (most 5 horse fields are pretty boring). We have a ML favorite that seems to be truly effected by weight. There is always that eternal argument of the impact of weight. It's hard to argue that this horse isn't effected by it. Small sample, however you slice it, but since moving to California, the horse hasn't done a thing without a bug on her back.
