the story of the boxing rivalry between Emile Griffith and Benny Kid Paret
Emile Griffith was gay although he never admitted it - before becoming a boxer he was a women's hat designer
before the weigh in of the 3rd fight in 1962 Benny called Emile "maricon" which is Spanish for faggot.
Emile got mad. He knocked Benny out in the fight and Benny went into a coma and died in the hospital 10 days later
after Benny died his Manager said, "Damn, now I got to get me a new boy."
sadly, when he was an old man Emile was beaten almost to death outside a gay bar in NYC
the 2nd link is the 2nd fight which was won by decision and is one of the greatest fights I have ever seen
