Let's see how bad the Broncos need a running back.

Ravens - ??
Not in this lifetime ! What is he going to do? bump Justin Forsett out of the #1 RB slot? JF is leading the league with a 5.8 Yds per carry plus Ozzie don't put up with s--t.

They need a running spark badly but do they seem like the type to take him? Some of the cut throat coaches (GM's) won't care and will lay down the law with him day 1.......others will avoid him. I knew no judge would put up with what the NFL did. I was kind of sure he told them he punched her. You can't "redo" the punishment the second time because a video tape makes it look worse...he freakin punched a woman. Was it going to look better on tape? Why do people think its worse when they actually have to see it? That commissioner comes across like a boob in this instance. You gotta be smarter than the general public to hold that position. The judge probably looked at this and laughed at it. I did when they tried to retry him....that will never float in this country. He should go or demote himself and let others handle discipline. When someone is in trouble, you only get one shot to try them and punish them, very basic stuff. I believe the judge said the commissioner was making "arbitrary" decisions. Not good.

A good manager would delegate things like player discipline so as to have the ability to make changes to the punishment from his exalted position if needed and to have the process look more fair. Being judge, jury, and executioner comes across as pompous and a know-it-all attitude, which Goodell certainly has.

I take it, you were never in position where you fired people. Most larger companies have guidelines (to prevent lawsuits), but if you are going to be an effective manger, you have to make these kinds of decisions yourself. You can't pass it off to your asst manager. In the NFL, Goodell is the person who should be making those decisions. That is why they pay him the big bucks. When they is an union, they generally have an arbitrator for appeals. When the employee wins an appeal, the company generally considers a buy out. A returning employee is a pariah. If Rice comes back, he has to be on his best behavior like Vick was. The slightest hint of trouble and he is gone. No matter how much it cost the NFL in cash.
It is Rice who made the league look bad. Goodell got in trouble because he let him off with a slap on the wrist the first time. If Goodell had suspended him for a year. None of this mess would have happened.

At this point in the season, Rice would have to go a team that has a system he knows. I am not sure who those teams are. I am thinking somebody will sign him for the rest of the season, but with no agreement beyond that. I just don't know who.

Ray is no longer a top player. Last season he rushed for only 440 yds in 15 games. He may have stayed in shape, but he can't be in "football" shape.
Secondly, why would any team want to take on the drama and scrutiny?? maybe if Al davis were still alive !.

Perhaps the CFL. He can move up there, stay and play for 30 more years.

I was a manager in such a position with a large multinational for many years, and you are simply wrong in your assessment of what is required to run a large group of people. A true leader delegates activities down through the chain of command where required. If one of my managers needed to discipline someone, I knew about it, but didn't take the action myself. I had departmental guidelines, and as long as my team followed those and the company's overall guidelines, I did not get involved unless the employee cried foul about the process or the manager. Then I was the arbiter. That's exactly as it should be. An effective division head allows his managers to function as leaders. I'm not doing my job well if I have to think for them. After all, one of my tasks was to groom my replacement some day. Can't do that if I'm afraid to let them leave the nest.
