Question on Los Alamitos Dimensions

It would appear that Los Al's circumference is a bit less than 1 mile, as there is a pole about 50 feet before the finish line.

And its chute on the backstretch seems to be on a slight angle, just like the one at Churchill Downs and the one at Old Jamaica.

The extension of the quarterhorse oval to give it the mile circumference only came after the demise of Hollywood Park (2013-14), so the added loop bows out a little (kind of like the turn at Kentucky Downs, but to a lesser extent) to increase the radius of that turn for the thoroughbreds.

When they run a mile race, the run-up is 190 feet, 30 feet short of a furlong, so they pass the 16th pole before the race actually starts at the finish line. There's also a light pole between that 16th pole and the finish line.

It's actually short of a mile, although I suppose for marketing reasons Los Al doesn't want to admit that.

I think both people were implying it is short of a mile, so not sure why you said actually.

It is easy to figure out. Back up a replay from the finish line by the final time and see where the race timing starts. For LRCit generally takes about an additional four seconds to get to the finish line, so roughly 75 yards or so. (I'm guessing, I didn't do the math)

that's right. it's just about 75 yards short of a mile. But almost everything los al puts out says it is a mile track rather than a 7 1/2 furlong + track.
