On the markets since the 40's, the FDA finally put out a warning in November 2000 and then removed it altogether in 2005 due to an increasing number of strokes reported in YOUNGER people (18 to 49). The fact that it is also used as a precursor in illicit amphetamine production was another factor in its withdrawal.
Here was a drug that NEVER went through the rigorous controlled testing, on the market for years, before significant vascular side effects only came to the attention of the FDA from medical feedback in the community. Being an OTC it was never put through the rigors of regular efficacy studies and consequently the population was put at risk.

That has nothing at all to do with the topic, you are just spouting your mouth off. Trying to appear educated.

No just the suggestion, from personal experience, that there are few safeguards in untested pharmaceuticals.
One of my patients suffered side effects from this drug

A drug that's been prescribed by medical professionals for 20 years is hardly untested.

Some drugs, like the beta blockers, gain therapeutic breadth when a particular SIDE EFFECT pops up that is efficacious when it was NOT the original intent of the medication.

MOST of those are DOSE related...a salient fact they seem to leave out AND the personal dose/response curve of each one of us is different.
