Dinky was one of my closest friend growing up in South Jamaica Queens.
Spent many hours playing straight up basketball on the courts of Rochdale Village. Then working at the COOP supermarket before heading to Yonkers and Roosevelt at night.
Those were the days when going to the track was a social event, not just to gamble but to have a good time with close friends. I recall in those drive Dinky would have his hand out the window, whipping the side of the car measuring off a win by beating a car to an overpass. By the time we got to the track we had the whole card dissected (But not agreed upon). He was the focus of the book and movie Lay the Favorite.
Likely many do not know him on the board but a lovelier person does not exist
I will miss you my friend.
