legal sprots gambling is insanity

i was just looking at the Baseball odds on one of these sites. they are offering up lines with 20 cents, 22 cents, 25 cents, 30 cents, 40 cents, and 50-cent spreads. some of the totals had a 22 cent spread as well. then i went to basketball and there were a lot of games with 22 cents spreads on the point and total lines. i don't think i would ever make a bet with those guys, even if i knew the game was fixed.

i remember spending a summer at the Barbary Coast casino on the corner of Flamingo and Las Vegas Blvd, betting horses and baseball. they were taking up to $500 a game with a five cents spread. i never came close to beating the game.

all these fake bookmakers need today are idiots to plunk their money down and clean the players out.

The only service I have now with listed is rivers but also 20 cent lines. I cant play baseball anymore. I remember the nickel line at castaways in vegas but dont remember it at barbary coast.

you had to be playing at the Castaway's when Sonny Reisner was the race and sports book director. that was in the mid-'80s before they took the whole place down to build the Mirage and Treasure Island.

i played the nickel line at the Barbary Coast in the early 90s for only 1 year. i was betting horses and baseball all day with Sonny Vaccaro. he was the guy that signed Michael Jordon for Nike and his brother was Jimmy who ran the sports betting for Steve Wynn.

after i left the Barbay Coast i went over to the Rio when they first opened to follow Reisner whom i knew originally from Boston.. he was giving me half points without being charged in football and basketball for a while. except for 1 big year i never did much with the sports no matter what deals i got.

there were 2 good things about the RIO even if you lost. they had the prettiest cocktail waitresses in town. they hired the girls right out of the gyms around town, and Sonny's Deli had Pearl hot dogs. they were the only ones in town to carry that brand.

The castaways for me was actually the mid 70s to early 80's. I never stayed there, stayed at sands. The castaways book when I went there was just a nook in the corner of the casino.

I do remember the attire the cocktail girls wore at rio, it did make losing easier to take.

i think they were called the country club frank.. they used to combine the hot dog with a bag of chips for $1.50. that was a pretty strong deal.

the guy that owned the RIO was a builder that built up a lot of other hotels in town. now i hear the whole place went bad.

I think the higher takeout or whatever you like to call it pays for the free bets and fund matching offers they have.

The surge in sports betting becoming legal here in the U.S. came at a high price. I consider the awful lines and poor service part of the "10% for the big guy", or in other words - kick backs for the politicians.

Where I live, in Illinois, the penalty was even higher to pay for those outrageous licensing fees. 25 spreads were "tight" relative to others. What a joke. I opened accounts at FD, DK, and River Bets in 2019 for football season and closed them all within a couple of months. Considering the abuse horseplayers have undergone for decades for the "privilege" of committing the sin of gambling, it was rather trivial to spot a poor deal.

Historically, there was a period of time in my life where using a bookie or going to Vegas was profitable for sports. This was from about 1985 to 2005. The end came when the offshore books were closed off from easy money transfers to the updated port authority act. It was sad to see my Pinnacle and IASBets accounts go away. Vegas got much tougher around the same time as more information was becoming available to computer users.

I'm not sure how anyone makes money on the major sports in the U.S. with one of the major player betting accounts. I could believe some of the minor sports or head-to-head plays may be worthwhile, but who wants to bet on Bulgarian cricket matches?

its impossible to beat the computers making the lines and juice they charge just in case you are good.

You can make some money with sign up bonus but that's just a one time deal. Then the services throw out some specials that are worthwhile but the dollar amount is capped at a small amount. Football was primarily -10 juice which is norm but baseball is unbetable with -20+. When it comes to prop wagering you might as well play lotto with the rip off odds given. People are obviously playing based on the amount of sports wagers services commercials on TV but there is only so much money out there now a days so that will dry up soon.

Check out Fan Duel, not sure if the offers are based on your level and frequency of play or how up or down you are. There seem to be quite a few up to $500 free bet offers. I do notice once I log in the offer banners change.
