A friend of mine owned a gas station/ conv. store for many years. He told me the most he ever made on a gallon of gas was 5-6 cents. A pack of smokes was his most profitable item back in the 90’s.

Many are doing the members thing, not a member ten cents more. I buy my gas at BJ's as I am a member.

Didn't the oil companies force all the independents out of business back in 70s or 80s? My home town in Oklahoma had about a half dozen independent stations back in the 50s. Now there are only two stations, neither independent. I know that one of them is a company station (Love's). I strongly suspect that the owner of the other one was forced out of business and now works for another company (Sinclair).
