Wow, Pennsylvania has the highest gas tax plus I remember the huge tolls towing a cargo trailer across the state once on I-70. Considering that I hope they have the nicest roads in the USA. I only seem to remember the states with the very bad roads, not the overly good ones.

Local station in central NJ was $2.39 yesterday.
I drove past it this morning.... $2.79.
40 cents over night.
A cynic might say they're taking advantage of the situation.

Tonight the going rate in Dallas county is 2.69.... Saw a $2.99 in Irving. Lines are shorter tonight opposed to yesterday, the panic subsided I guess.
Some stations have their pumps closed, out of gas. Most are open tho.

The majority of the increase is greed. The gasoline futures all point down for October. The Labor Day increase of usage combined with the Texas refineries going off line should have equated to a total of 20 cents, instead the Oil companies saw an opportunity to hit the pocketbooks of all consumers throughout the USA to the tune of over 60 cents a gallon. There is no controls on gas prices in most states if at all. The only controls are natural disasters and they would be capped by a percentage based on the imposed disaster. NJ has a 10 percent over normal pricing for a disaster this is the maximum, and per Governor Christie he will enforce this with heavy fines.
