You are so quick to fact check everything someone outside your inner circle says when you don't have all the information. Did you know that gutter installers do not use raw aluminum to do their work? The aluminum has to be processed into flat sheets, painted, cut and rolled into coils. Then it has to be transported and stored. There are no doubt multiple middle men involved along the way. Aluminum downspouts are also not mined out of the ground.

That chart is probably for a metric ton of ingots sitting outside a foundry ready to be sent to a mill for processing. That would be equivalent to what a steer was worth before it was shipped to a slaughterhouse. If a steer as loaded into the back of a truck is worth 10% more that doesn't mean your rib eye steak only goes up 10%. Wages are up at lower level jobs, so are general business expenses so the slaughter house is charging a percentage more for processing. With high fuel prices shipping costs are way up. Sides of beef end up at a large butchering operation, and then to your local store, a big chain store operation could skip a step.

Damn, how far did they travel? Or was it just a percentage added to the whole bill. I never figured out what dictates why some repair/install businesses charge a service call plus travel time and some do neither. I do most my own work unless it risks my old battered self. I don't go on roofs or down in wells. If I call a plumber to go replace a well pump I just pay labor and parts. I call a roofer to replace shingles, labor + material, again. If I called a machine technician to repair a drill press (simple example) I would likely get hit with mileage and a service charge, where the service charge only includes up to the first hour labor.

yep and its getting bad, I have to idle truck to stay warm, cool, cook, keep parking lights on so someone does not hit me cause they cant see me and then sue me (even at a truck stop) then I usually run about 80mph that takes lots of fuel, its getting bad out here. started today on a 34 hr clock reset, when starting back up will keep fuel reciepts for 1 week and mileage then post on here how much was spent on fuel.

A few truckers post work videos on youtube. One just said he's shutting down his rig, too cost prohibitive right now he said. It's compounding an already stressed supply chain. Biden and the green new dealers got to go. January 6th would have been a great start.
