I actually think the Derby means less now. It’s somewhat of a Media spectacle like many things and it’s sold to people . Being a realist , how people hate it . But cmon, it’s clear as day these horses are underdeveloped and that race doesn’t prove much like it used to . First off , some are coming in with 3 or 4 races , secondly , since there’s a lack of seasoning and the run up is a few months . Many of them don’t even make it to Saturday . What was there ? Like 5 scratches this year . Then the way it is the winner moves on to the Preakness and it’s hard to get anyone else to re enter in two weeks . Come on , smell the coffee. Last years winner hasn’t won since ! And had to change barns ! Like I said it’s a spectacle that’s packaged and sold . It’s no Championship by any means. Betting wise you can make a killing if you’re lucky but I concentrate on the under card , it’s actually better racing.
As for the track . All these moves just say. “We don’t know what the fck is going on .” To me anyway, You suspended a trainer indefinitely but now a month later …….. it’s the track . “We gotta move .” . Gee, I don’t see pending litigation with that
. Unless , you eventually tell the public what’s going on with that . With all this guessing game , cloak and dagger bs . And nothing clearly substantiated. I can’t blame anyone for bailing this ship .
And I’m sick of the stalling and people talking over people when it’s mentioned. You need to perform ethical , medical and physical studies on what’s going on with the breed . I’m no genetic expert or engineer but I’m pretty good at math and logic . And everything is telling me , Houston , you got a problem and it probably lies with the physical health of these athletes. They are brittle and/or tired easily. And the enemies are attacking the weakness. Horse racing operates somewhat secretly , which just breeds the rumors then wonder why the wolves are at the door. Time to put up or shut up . Cause rock bottom is not here yet but it’s not that far off either . “We’re moving from Churchill to Ellis park “. Are you kidding me ?
