CHRB jockey breeding season/stallion share proposal

A subcommittee of the California Horse Racing Board is scheduled to discuss a radical proposal next week that would require the owners of horses that win certain stakes in the state to provide winning riders with a breeding season or a stallion share.

According to racing board documents, the proposal will only be discussed at Wednesday’s committee meeting in Sacramento, and is not subject to a formal vote. A proposed rule must be part of a formal hearing and vote by the same committee at a future meeting before the issue reaches the full racing board. The process would include a public comment period before a proposed rule would be voted on by the full racing board.

I shake my head at just about everything the CHRB comes up with. Can't see how this can be made legal.

that seems insane, i know sometimes you get shares in horses you rode but its usually out of generosity not taxes.

actually, this is nothing new and has been going on for 50 years that i know of.

Jean Cruget used to work for us for many years. he was given 2 seasons every year for SEATTLE SLEW. he used the seasons himself and never had a good one. the trainers of these horses also get seasons.

now why the CHRB finds it necessary to stick therir noses in and spend their time on a practice that has no problems for many years is another story.
