It's a new structure where the paddock bar is ( in the Shake Shack area ) and it is not taking away places where people hung out. The areas for rent are on the second floor which didn't exist before.
People used to complain that NYRA didn't know how to run a business. Now they complain when we do.
As far as the laptops, I am confirming this, but I believe this only applies to Belmont Stakes day ( and you can still bring one if you are playing in the contest ). Do people even still lug their laptops to the track? Don't people use their phones and/or tablets? Those are all allowed.

They changed their minds.
Laptops now permitted.
Much ado over nothing.

I agree that the website should be accurate, but sometimes it's not, and going forward, at least ask me if you see something that seems surprising and I'll find out if it's in error.

NYRA needs to monetize the assets it has control over. I understand , support and accept it.
In a way it's self affirming.
People are coming around to what I knew since I was kid. The paddock at Saratoga is a World Class spot. It's priceless.
They each hold 80 people. It's ~ $150 a head if full.
The Vinnie Viola, Sol Kumin types will have 20 people. $500 a head. Plus the liquor 🥃!

$500 might be in my wheelhouse on a big day. Are these dates big days?
No food or drink included?

Yes. In fact, you yourself are banned from the grounds I believe...they don't want you messing with any finish lines...

Misunderstood
I was researching my 2022 Saratoga plans.
Somehow I thought it was multiple suites. But its one full floor that can accommodate 80.
I suspect it's a project in motion. Designed for groups, I think they can subdivide it , 2 groups of 40 etc.. At the moment no individual tickets.
You see horse path out to track in the image if you want to place where it is and what direction it's facing.

The laptop thing is stupid (glad to hear it is a mistake) but you are absolutely right about this. Saratoga appeals to people who have a lot of money (and has for a long time- the track got name dropped in a hit song by the queen of Martha's Vineyard and publishing royalty Carly Simon, FFS). NYRA should be- and is- taking advantage of that every way they can. And that's just good business.

Historical Record
In April of 2021 Saratoga was looking at 2 consecutive years of no fans.
Then in May/June 2021 they were issuing press releases about maybe 5% or 10% capacity.
I booked flights and hotel anyway.
Then, COVID numbers fell huge. Remember Biden announced that July 4th 2021 was COVID independence day?
Then NYRA , literally 2 weeks before opening day, flew open the doors with no limit on attendance.
It was full everyday.
So the.people who were there were two types. People like.me.who booked and took a chance I'd get in. Or people who dropped everything at the last minute and went.
It was an unbelievable experience. 💕
2021 Saratoga was the year of the fan.

I can imagine pulling out my iPad to make my bet on NYRA and having a green jacket tackle me. “That is not allowed!”
After, I toss him over the rail, I yell down, “Sorry, about that. I’ll try to remember the next time, I throw you over the rail.”

Not that this was ever funny, but when was it ever even suggested that tablets were banned?

Of course I bring my laptop to the track. i'm not going to wager in ignorance.
A lot of software is more complex than can be run on a phone or tablet.
