Key military targets? It's mutual annihilation or bust. Both countries can launch from submarines. With thousands of missiles in arsenal, how can there by key nuclear targets? Unless you've built a condo in an abandoned missile silo or into a mountain, you're better off eating your pistol or hoping you're at ground zero.

I'm not on the internet very much anyway. The phone I carry is just that...a phone, plus occasional texting.
Getting your life to woven into tech entertainment and have it removed indefinitely would be like going cold turkey off of heroin. Pretty dangerous in itself when you think about it. I picture the "under 30" masses as walking zombies becoming extinct. No clue what so ever.
As for a nuclear holocaust, no need to worry much...just take a seat.

I have had a bug out plan for everywhere I have lived.

But if you’re close to a major city you probably won’t be able to use it

(This is a serious question.)
Park our stuff with non-electric ignitions on the south side of the river bank.

Hop in the crawl space and hope they chose a low yield device for the dam a few miles away.

Obviously this is actually more planned out than that but I now live in the place I would have gone in my younger years.

Exactly right.

Frankly, I don't know how people sleep without one.

But to each their own.

Surviving a nuclear attack is doable. Living in its aftermath is way different. I would want no part of an apocalyptic world.

My bug out plan for where I live now (but Houston would probably be annihilated) takes into account that every nuke power plant will melt down about 3 weeks after a strike, due to no maintenance personnel taking care of it. If you can make 3 weeks post attack, you better not be near a nuke plant melting down. Take a look at the map and find out which direction you need to go to avoid plant melt downs

You also need alternate transportation. Such as a fast motorcycle. One that’s capable of getting around full expressways.

A good shortwave radio is a necessity too

So it will be a full Somalia experience then? Minus the nuke plants.

Anything with a electronic vs points ignition is unlikely to work due to EMP damage.

That’s been somewhat debunked. In some testing, the vehicles most damaged have to be running at the time of the pulse. But it’s hard to test to the appropriate levels

Vehicles parked inside buildings (ex: auto dealer showrooms) are likely to survive.

If the crap hits the fan, I’ll find something that runs. Off the top of my head I know where 5 old restored cars and trucks (points n rotor) are within a 5 min walk of my house.

In my plan I hope Vince McMahon promotes it. I buy the ppv. Have a female friend over. Pour a very strong rye, smoke a joint and watch it all crumble.

I found this to be an interesting topic and wanted to participate in it. My style may be a rambling one in this case.

I was a Boy Scout and went through military survival training. Are you impressed yet? That training didn't prepare me for nuclear annihilation; the movie Red Dawn did.

The easy answer is DOTS - depends on the situation. I don't have an underground bunker, but I do have a basement. I live in a rural residential area with farms and stuff, so I don't expect a direct or nearby hit. The winds here are mostly westerly; for mostie - from the west.

So I would likely hunker down at home with my beans and rice and follow the news, however I get it. We're a tight knit community and we'd help and look out for each other.

The end.
