Shocking report: 2022 Olympic Winter Games a ratings disaster for NBC

Who could have seen this coming?

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/nbc-r...b0f93b2619b86b

Quote:
Through Tuesday, an average of 12.2 million people watched the Olympics in prime-time on NBC, cable or the Peacock streaming service, down 42 percent from the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea. The average for NBC alone was 10 million, a 47 percent drop, the Nielsen company said.

They got the Olympics even though that area doesn't get a lot of snow. It's all manufactured. Maybe San Diego should host the winter games.

Why would China care? They (or Olympic committee) sold the USA television rights to NBC and it was not contingent on how many watched.

for propaganda purposes, that's why. The more eyes where you can sell the BS propaganda, the better for China. China is playing for the minds of the easily duped. The less duped that watch, the better off we all are.

Well, you can only watch so much curling, right?

And I actually LIKE curling.

I've watched curling with a fair bit of interest the last few Olympics, about the only events I've watched; this year I watched some one evening very early on, maybe even before the Opening.

But this year I couldn't even get into that. This stone was bounced from the House early on.

I watch curling also, but for a different reason. I find it funny to watch the sweepers. I also will watch Australian rules football to watch the officials signal a score.

The coverage was terrible. I watched a few times and the scoring system for some of these sports is so damn complicated I can't follow it. Couple that with the crammed down "made for TV" time they squeeze it into and it's a disaster. Right around the time I figure out who is winning (or how you win ) it's over.

They need a few minutes of by event breakdown, like a horse racing broadcast were you would explain Win, Place, Show bets.
