I know it’s not easy keeping track of when and when we aren’t racing, this week it will be Monday and Wednesday 1:10 post time.

Thanks for the update. What's the reason for dropping Mon last week and Tues this week? Lack of entries?

Quick bump to this: I see opening day for 2024 is six weeks from tomorrow. I suppose I should be grateful this place is still running but my word Mon thru Wed is all they do here anymore? Thinking back to when I was a kid, if my mom and grandmother hadn't taken me out here on Saturdays I don't even know that I'd be a handicapper. I haven't the foggiest idea what I'd be into. We all know times have certainly changed, I'm just trying to wrap my head around the significance of it. I can't imagine the discussion when someone proposed closing on weekends. It's a good thing they never hired me or I'd have said wth are you people thinking.

Market drive. They closed Sundays a long time ago. No crowds. They tried a lot of things, football, cheap wings, a pros and ponies bet with horses a football.
Last Sunday I was there, I bought a dozen wings, and gave one to everyone in the place. I ate the other 3 myself.
Saturdays eventually followed.
But they simulcast every day. Parx has the same schedule most of the time.
Availability of horses is a big deal, too.
They got lemons and made lemonade. Goes great with the beef on weck!

Traditionally it seemed like Sunday was always less busy as many people probably lost their shirt on Saturday but to not even be open on Saturday, wow, it used to be packed on Saturday and that was when there was already simulcasting. Anyway sign of the times, my mom hasn't placed a bet on a horse there in years but is at the casino several times per week. As for me, even if I were hungry to play there a little bit again for the spring meet, as someone who works full time day shifts M-F, I'm S.O.L. Pretty sad actually. I guess I'll put a chunk of cash on the Florida Derby and then call it my spring 'meet' until May 4th.

Cool video!
Thanks for posting it.
Great place to play the races. Comfortable.
Spent many hours hanging on that fence, looking up at the track. beer in one hand, Form in the other.
Used to be, on weekends, there were literally no empty seats. You put your paper on your seat when you went to bet or lose it.
PKTruckdriver visited here once on his travels and we had a great day.

I remember the days at Penn National when it was the same way as FL on the weekends. I've recently retired and am planning to tour quite a few tracks this summer. FL is on the list. After watching that video, I may spend a few days there instead the 1 day I had planned. By the way, the Mon thru Weds schedule is perfect for me. Blends perfectly with my PARX simulcast days.

I like Finger Lakes. I don't go to the track regularly because it's a long trip for me, but the area is very nice for a vacation and the racing serves a good purpose. If you have a NY Bred at AQU/BEL/SAR that can't cut it after breaking its maiden, there are a lot of easier races and cheaper claiming to try.
