PTC and the TOC
Yesterday the C.A.R.F. circuit has submitted contracts on our behalf for approval to the TOC. This is the position we were in last year where the TOC refused approval without ever giving a reason. Since that time we have
1) Increased our monthly handle tenfold.
2) Successfully completed the TRPB due diligence process at our expense.
3) Handled major meets such as Breeders' Cup and Keeneland.
I am trying very hard to be optimistic. The TOC is the only horsemen's group that has ever turned us down but I'd like to think this year will be different. If there are any California owners that read this board (or any other PA members willing to lobby for us) I would greatly appreciate their support in this matter.
We will consider applying for a full California ADW license this year if we can clear this hurdle.
Thanks.

I will do what I can Ian. The lack of rebates in CA is a hurdle to licensing here. No rebate shop has been licensed here for CA residents.

Thanks. All we are asking for now is approval to take wagers on California racing from non-California residents like rebaters RGS, Elite, Lodge at Belmont, Philly Park, Seabrook Greyhound, Tonkawa, C'ouer D'alene, Lien Games, etc.
I understand where the rebates for California residents is more of an issue and would be happy to work something out that addressed any concerns the TOC might have. All we have ever asked for is a fair chance.

PTC and the TOC
Ian:
Count on me as well. I'm committed to writing a persuasive email again to Drew Couto. C'mon PA members. Who else is willing to step up to the plate, and make a commitment to send an email to Drew Couto, the Executive Director of the TOH? The time for talking about doing something is over. It's time to take action!
Here's Drew Couto's email address:

isn't there a way to send a letter with a bunch of signers?
I don't think the guy will want or like to get 500 rants or emails about this?

Why not? That's what gets people's attention. As long as they are polite. Works for congress...

could be you are correct.
I know it has more effect on me to see a letter signed by 500 people than 500 seperate emails all with the same subject.
The latter goes to the spam bin on my end.
maybe he is different kind of dude.

PTC and the TOC
The email I sent to Drew Couto was mainly persuasive and positive.

No reply to my email
Sent email, on Friday, June 6, asking what else PTC had to do in order to receive TOC's approval to take Calif signal. I was nice!! No response.
And, I'm not surprised. Imagine the gall of we horseplayers to question the decisions of higher authorities such as the TOC.

I took the time to write. I don't know how "nice" I was. I will say that I didn't hold anything back. I let him know that I was in favor of the TOC approving Premier Turf Club to do business in California. I also let him know how ridiculous I think the TOC's position on rebates has been and asked him to change that.
It's a start.

Exactly!
Well... almost.
I have real trouble thinking of the TOC in terms of it being a higher authority. Without the bettors' money this game would cease to exist overnight.
Imagine the gall we bettors have: financing this game and wanting a voice.

Believe it or not I received a reply from Mr. Couto within an hour after hitting the send button. He IS at least aware of bettor sentiment.
It IS a start.
