That is an idea that Doc Sartin drove home. If you don't put real money on a race, don't count it in your records. I used old files to get the feel for how a software program works and all that, but once I start tallying my real world result, or try new angle, or new way to pick a contender, I at least put $2 on every "pick" before I write it down in my records. Even if I bet it to show, it keeps me honest - no more "Well, I would have had that one for sure, and Oh, that was obvious.....then end up down $500 by Friday.
