Whitney Aug 3rd Saratoga....Who beats.....
Can anybody in here beat Ft. Larned ?
On paper ....... I don't see it.
I kind of like the though. Might be sitting on a good one.
Software likes him........but my brain looks at the numbers from Ft. Larned and it's a pretty tall mountain to climb

Successful Dan is definitely not a 12-1 horse.. I will surely take a shot at that or even at 5-1. Ron the Greek is another one who is worth taking a look at but he usually gets whooped by Fort Larned so I am not sure how much to hope..
Of course Pletcher is one fire so Cross Traffic (by Unbridled's song) -a tenacious fighter is bound to get bet down.

Just made my selections in the Selections section.
I like the 1 2 3.
I think the connections think that MMM is ready to return to a high level of racing, and we all recall the BC.
That seems like the logical exacta, but I'm happy about Successful Dan's poor outing in last. Has always been really consistent, and along with MMM should be sitting right off the pace.

Playing against the Crosstown Traffic....all the hype, never been the distance, never beaten this kind, hasn't won a stakes yet. You gotta get at least 4-1 on a horse like this and that ain't going to happen. If Crosstown Traffic wins at some short price....so be it. The proven horses here are the and the but Mucho Macho Man has to return to form, he has to run well this year before i jump on him. the closers will probably be the and .......Exacta box , , Ron The Greek......W.

This looks like too tough of a betting race for me. I pretty much like the chalk in order.
Fort Larned appears to be the best. I don't know If we should expect a huge performance, but obviously on his day he's a Grade I horse.
Cross Traffic is the biggest upset threat. Unfortunately he's 2nd choice. Was best overall in the Met, in a performance that combined a high-level ability with some faults. Those faults could be enough for Fort Larned to gain a couple of advantages today, but then again he could correct them at the stretch-out in distance.
Ron The Greek - Professional should run his race and be in position should he be handed any great opportunity.

I haven't decided on wether to bet or the .Probably the former unless he's 3-1.Successful Dan looks like he has just tailed off too much IMO.The horse that intrigues me is .He just closely matched his top from the 3yo season while 3rd to Flat Out in the Suburban. He has the right running style, will be a price, and should move forward, especially after being 3rd by a neck in last year's 10f Travers at this track, his original top.The value as we all know will be having or no better than 2nd.I'll have a 2 to 1 win bet split,an exacta box with the top 2 and on top of the others mentioned.

I've got Cross Traffic, Fort Larned, and Mucho Macho Man, in that ranking order but haven't decided if the race is worth messing with yet. If so, I will have to have 5/2 or higher for betting.
Those rankings are based on power, form, and total velocity (PFV) at route distances on the dirt. My "Class/Distance" rankings are .
The rankings are all over the place so my thoughts on this race are very tentative.
