Very nice of the people of San Francisco to name a street (Divisidero) after the Churchill Early Times winner. I guess they are fans of Grade 1s on grass.

Well we're two games into the Jose Canseco experience.

I guess the best thing to say is " The operation was a success but the patient died.

Jose has been terrific in every way. But we still cannot win a dam ballgame.

We've lost 9 of 10. Including the last two with Canseco in the lineup.

We'll try it again tonight in Pittsburg vs the Sonoma Stompers.

1st pitch 7:05. Preceded by the Jose Canseco Home Run Derby at 5:05.

Just another loss. Stompers win 5-3 despite 2 home runs from Mike Taylor. Canseco went 0 for 4 for the 2nd consecutive night. He's now 2 for 12 in three games.

4th and final game of the series Sunday at 1:05. Some talk around the batting cage that Canseco will get the start on the mound.

Watched him throw a bullpen session the other day. He didn't look bad at all. Throws a pretty tricky knuckleball. Fast ball not smoking but not BP either. Maybe low 80's.

I kinda hope he starts. That way when he comes out of the game I can try to convince him to come on the broadcast to talk for a couple innings.

We'll see.

Vic, are you going to comment on your experiences in AK outside of the track?
Of all the states I have been to (I think I am up to 28) it seems to be quite unique and I would not say in much of a good way.

Sure. I've already reached out to the officials association that assigns both High School Basketball and Baseball.

I've spent very little time in Arkansas during my travels.

Not sure about the night time entertainment. There are dry counties where you can't even buy a six pack of beer. What I found disturbing is extreme segregation, I only passed through a half dozen times, but my travels always had me spending the night in the state once each pass, eating two meals each trip through and stopping for gas. I never saw any mixing of the
races, whether stopping for gas, eating or lodging, it was really weird to me. Maybe it was because I never strayed much off I-40.
